This week, OHNY Executive Director Renée Schacht had the pleasure of attending the opening of the second leg of the High Line in Chelsea, which also marked the launch of The Lot, a temporary public plaza that features art along with free events and family activities.

Renée and OHNY Program Manager Jessica Mak recently got a sneak peek of the soon-to-open 56-room Hôtel Americano at 518 W. 27th Street. Unfortunately we are unable to share any photos of the interior, but the following image of the hotel’s exterior shows the ultra-chic metal mesh screen draped over the building’s north façade.

The 337-room Standard Hotel has participated in OHNY Weekends since opening in 2008.

The area surrounding the High Line also includes 14 rental buildings, with 1,362 units, and some 243,000 square feet of office space, with another two buildings in the works.

Check out the High Line’s lush lawn (made of sod) – great for lounging while admiring HL23!

What’s next for the High Line? Section 3! We are super excited. Last year during OHNY Weekend, Friends of the High Line offered special access and limited tours.
