[...] The TWA Terminal in New York created by Eero Saarinen in 1962 (a year before his death) is a concrete sculpture symbolizing flight. The sweeping, expressive curves create an insanely beautiful interior space that -in the 60s I am sure- made this terminal the hottest place to be seen. The terminal closed in 2001 after financially struggling throughout the 90s but even today it represents beautifully the golden age of flight and since its closing has been an attraction to many investors (as a hotel, restaurant, etc). Luckily, the building became an official landmark in 1994 (The Municipal Art Society actually successfully nominated the terminal to the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s list of the 11 Most Endangered Places), voted on by the Landmarks Preservation Commission and 20,000 sq ft of the 170,000 has been restored by Charles Kramer, the architect from Beyer Blinder Belle and James Stevens, the Port of Authority of New York and New Jersey’s Manager of JFK Physical Plant and Redevelopment. Check out how you can visit this place THIS WEEKEND! [...]

I am proud to be your friend and classmate. You prove that great design endures these decades that vaporize in our midst! Thanks for the virtual tour. I will share it with friends who are close to NYC! Congratulations on your good work thus far, and crack the whip to complete the job!
