Join openhousenewyork for a tour of the Brooklyn Public Library’s Central Library with Chief Librarian Richard Reyes-Gavilan. Opened in 1941, the Streamlined Moderne building occupies one of Brooklyn’s most prominent sites, its concave entrance façade tracing the ellipse of Grand Army Plaza. The tour will begin with the majestic public spaces before visiting the underground stacks; the Hunt Collection of Children’s Literature, with rare materials dating back to the 1740s; and The Brooklyn Daily Eagle Morgue, which houses clippings of this historic local newspaper from 1903 to 1955.

OHNY Icons is a new members-only series that provides behind-the-scenes access to some of the city’s most treasured buildings.
