We would like to introduce Clara Peretz, our Volunteer Coordinator for the 2015 Open House New York Weekend. As Volunteer Coordinator, Clara is responsible for managing a volunteer corps of over 1,000 volunteers who donate their time and energy during OHNY Weekend to assist at one of the several hundred participating sites and tours with check-in, managing lines, and welcoming visitors.

Clara grew up in Dallas, Texas but moved to the East Coast to go to Wesleyan University, where she received a B.A. in Sociology and French Studies. Her thesis examined the ways in which difference is constructed in France and how this has influenced the ways in which France has responded to a host of issues surrounding immigration policy. Clara has been involved in many community organizing efforts and is interested in organizations that promote engagement in the arts as a vehicle for social change.

A few fun facts about Clara :

– She was born in Washington Heights

– Her Dad is French

– She has sold office supplies door-to-door in Queens

– She travelled in South America for 6 months during the past year
